At Oumanne we don’t just reconnect veterans.
We revive bonds, restore brotherhood, and honour the moments only comrades can truly understand.
Oumanne is a proudly South African veterans’ social group created for those who served with honour and distinction in the SADF/SANDF Army, Air Force, Navy, Medical Services, or South African Police prior to 1994, particularly during the Border War era.
What makes Oumanne different is its simplicity and spirit of camaraderie — there are no fees, no politics, and no rank. It’s not an organisation, association, or formal veterans’ body; it’s simply a place for old comrades to reconnect, share a few laughs, and enjoy good company.
The group meets informally every two months for a bring and braai, and once a year hosts a Potjie Kos competition — a highlight on the Oumanne calendar. Plans are already in motion for a national cook-off between regional champions.
Oumanne is growing fast, with over 1,000 active members and new chapters forming beyond the founding Durban chapter, including a General Group, Business Networking group, Western Cape, Overberg, Pretoria, Eastern Cape, St Lucia, Pietermaritzburg, Port Edward, East London, North West, Kwazulu-Natal, Northern Cape, Port Elizabeth, Gauteng, and internationally, Canada, Namibia, Ireland, and Essex UK, with more chapters in the making - Isle of Man, New Zealand, Australia soon.
